For animal and theater lovers! November 18, 2008 Kristine Mothersele (Connecticut) Bill Berloni's wonderful and very real stories of the animals he has rescued, trained, and put on stage is a great read. With each chapter a different show and a different animal (mostly dogs), it's a great ride through 30 years of Broadway shows and names and Bill's "learn as you go" escapades with a fascinating mix of critters. Each animal's personality comes through, as does Mr. Berloni's genuine depth of feeling for each of them. There is joy, suspense, and sometimes tears, but the spirit (of both man and "beast") always triumphs. This is an easy read, and would make a wonderful Christmas gift that the whole family can read and share, talk about, and enjoy. And how you react to each story will tell you a little something about yourself as well. - Kris M
A winning story of animal heroism and talent October 9, 2008 Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) The author was a nineteen-year-old theater apprentice when he was offered a professional break - IF he could find and train a job to appear in the Broadway hit Annie. His rescue dog from a shelter made history - and BROADWAY TAILS offer similar stories of animals who overcame impossible odds to become co-stars in entertainment. Dog owners and animal lovers -and libraries catering to them - will find BROADWAY TAILS a winning story of animal heroism and talent, paired with black and white photos of the entertainers themselves.
Broadway Tails October 9, 2008 B. L. Brown (Conneaut, OH United States) Excellent book for the dog lover. I heard the author and animal lover Bill Berloni interviewed on PBS radio, and had to read the book. It's full of stories and pictures about the dogs and other animals he's rescued and trained for Broadway and TV shows.
Broadway Tails October 2, 2008 Kathryn C. Hotarek This is a wonderful book, lovingly written, about Bill Berloni's unusual and fascinating career. And the work he's done rescuing and training dogs over 30 years is a remarkable testament to his humanity and creativity. An extremely entertaining read, for animal, as well as theater, lovers.
A Wonderful, Heart-Warming Book! September 23, 2008 Blue Angel 6 (CT) I absolutely LOVED this book! I hated to put it down and could'nt wait to pick it up again. This is such a heart-warming book and though I cried several times, I laughed and cheered even more! Mr. Berloni's writing grabs you right from the start and does not let go. He is an amazing man whose patience and drive creates even more amazing animals! This is an awesome, awesome read and if you love all animals, you'll love this book!
